Armchair Dogs was founded in early 1994 with the aim of providing modern, force-free training for pet dog owners. We take a different approach to dog training and behavioural problems using training methods that are relaxed but which are also effective with all shapes and sizes of dogs (and owners!).

We run puppy classes, adult and adolescent beginner courses and follow-on classes for all dogs. Also available are fun agility classes for entertainment and exercise. All of our class trainers are members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). An organization founded by John Fisher to ensure that dog owners are able to obtain training that is fair, kind and effective for themselves and their dog. All members (and their assistants) have to adhere to a strict code of conduct to ensure that dogs and owners get the best advice and help.

Armchair Dogs has a qualified behavioural trainer (Post Graduate Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling, University of Southampton) to help with problems and dogs not suited to a class environment, and to give private training.

We are also agents for Fromm pet foods. These are foods free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives that are manufactured with human grade ingredients.
